Transforming communities through medical care

In developed countries where people are privileged to live with insurance and/or Government health cover, in countries like India only the rich and affluent can afford the proper and expensive medical care and treatment.

An estimated 2.2 million people in developing countries, most of them children, die every year from diseases associated with lack of access to safe drinking water, inadequate sanitation, and poor hygiene and overcrowding. Thousands of deaths could be averted if proper awareness of sanitation is taught to the illiterate masses in the villages.

CFI workers play a vital role in educating communities about health and hygiene issues. We also want to empower all people to live lives of quality, dignity and health now. CFI’s health education uses effective and culturally appropriate communication methods including visual aids, films, drama, etc.

CFI‘s Health Programs are offered through medical camps, special training programs for women and youth, and through our Transformation Centres and Children’s Homes.

Mercy Van

Introduction

CFI came into existence in 1998 with a vision to see people of India experience the love, care and compassion. Ever since her inception, CFI has played substantial role in shaping the lives of poor people in India.

With a focus to touch 100,000 communities with the transforming and refining power, CFI initiates different projects and adopts different means that creates holistic results through partnership.

CFI prospered in her service to humanity within short span of time, reaching out to India and Nepal. Thousands of communities are being released and resourced with the help and cooperation of people from all over the world.

The purpose of the Van is to care for the mentally sick on the streets and public places. The van is equipped with facilities to take care of their immediately needs like:

Cleansing of wounds and sores
Hair Cut
Body Wash
Clothing
Food
Medical Assistance, etc.

On the street with the Mercy Van CFI serves people who suffer from:

Wounds and sores
Drug Addiction
Alcoholism
Abuse
Lack of Food
Health and Hygienic problems etc.

We create awareness among the public through Documentaries, Films and Literatures. The goals are to evoke an interest in the public against social evils and be guard on to protect themselves and the society to help those who suffer from these evils.

CFI believes in the holistic well-being of an individual. Transforming a single person can result in transformation of a community

The use of the Medical Van

CFI intends to equip the van with facilities for cleansing the wounds, offering haircut and shower and other necessities to minister to the needs of the mentally ill patients.

Thus the use of the vehicle is twofold. During the morning hours the vehicle will minister to the sick and the homeless mentally ill patients found in the streets and in the evening on a weekly basis we will use the vehicle to display films and documentaries and thereby orient the society to stand up to stop abuse of drugs and alcohol.

We believe that our efforts will bring a great transformation, reformation and change in the city of Lucknow and will redeem lots of people from darkness to light.
